About this role

9 Mothers seeks a senior Perception Engineer to develop and deploy the computer vision and ML pipeline for real-time detection, classification, and tracking of aerial threats in their counter-drone systems. You'll own the perception stack end-to-end, from model training on edge hardware to field deployment, working in a fast-paced startup environment with immediate operational impact.

What you'll do

  • Design and deploy computer vision models for real-time sUAS detection, classification, and tracking on Jetson edge hardware
  • Build and maintain the dataset, labeling, augmentation, and synthetic data generation pipeline with closed-loop retraining
  • Optimize inference performance through model pruning, quantization, TensorRT integration, and custom kernel development
  • Establish evaluation frameworks and metrics for assessing perception performance under operational conditions
  • Deliver target state information (position, velocity, identity, uncertainty) to the controls subsystem
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on camera, optics, and sensor selection decisions
