Software Engineer, Backend

About this role

Adaptyv is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build systems that enable AI agents to autonomously run biology experiments. You'll design data pipelines for experimental results, create APIs integrating lab instruments and robotics, and help translate molecular biology workflows into reliable, scalable software that controls physical lab infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Design and build production backend systems using Python/TypeScript and Postgres
• Architect data pipelines processing large volumes of instrument data from biology experiments
• Develop APIs integrating laboratory equipment, robotics, and scheduling systems
• Translate complex molecular biology workflows into reliable software systems
• Work with scientists and automation engineers to understand lab requirements
• Ensure full observability and reliability of automated lab operations
