Photonics Layout and Design Automation Engineer

About this role

Aeva is seeking a Photonics Layout and Design Automation Engineer to support the development of integrated silicon photonics chips for advanced 4D LiDAR sensors used in autonomous vehicles and robotics. You'll work on design automation and layout optimization for compact, high-performance perception modules that enable safer autonomous systems.

What you'll do

• Design and optimize photonics chip layouts for silicon-based LiDAR integration
• Develop and implement design automation tools and workflows for photonics components
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on chip miniaturization and performance optimization
• Support manufacturing readiness and yield optimization for photonics modules
• Conduct design analysis and validation for integrated sensing solutions
• Troubleshoot design challenges and implement process improvements
