Software Development Engineer in Test | SDET

About this role

8am seeks an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test to own end-to-end test automation strategy for their SaaS Platform team, focusing on critical customer identity and authentication flows. You'll build Python-based automation using Playwright and PyTest, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and partner with Quality Engineers to keep defect leakage under 15%.

What you'll do

• Own E2E automation strategy prioritizing critical customer journeys (authentication, provisioning, identity, roles/permissions)
• Build and maintain UI automation with Python and Playwright, plus API and contract testing with PyTest
• Integrate tests into CircleCI quality gates and ensure tests are reliable and trustworthy
• Validate authentication, provisioning, and OpenAPI contracts that downstream products depend on
• Partner with Quality Engineers to surface risks and close coverage gaps with automation
• Leverage AI tooling for test planning, code review, and coverage gap analysis
