Software Engineer II, Backend (Reliability Platform)

Affirm seeks a Backend Software Engineer II to design and build a next-generation reliability platform that helps teams monitor, debug, and improve production system health. The role combines distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development, emphasizing rapid iteration and high-quality code delivery.

What you'll do

• Build a centralized reliability command center providing unified visibility into system health and risk across services
• Develop AI agents for incident triage, root-cause analysis, and log/trace summarization
• Create developer-facing features and APIs to help engineers explore data and debug issues
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to rapidly prototype, refactor, and ship high-quality code
• Own end-to-end project delivery from requirements through implementation, testing, and rollout
• Partner with product, infrastructure, data, and SRE teams to identify and solve pain points
