AI Engineer - Backend

About this role

Join a stealth AI company backed by tier-1 investors to build the backend infrastructure powering trustworthy consumer-grade AI agents. You'll own end-to-end systems for model orchestration, state management, and data infrastructure serving millions of devices across major OEM partners.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain agent backend systems including model orchestration, tool-use plumbing, and agent state management
• Build and scale the data plane (Postgres schemas, caching, queues, event streams) to support OEM-scale deployments
• Establish production SLAs, on-call processes, and reliability standards for all cloud-facing agent systems
• Ship research breakthroughs to production users within days and provide production feedback loops
• Collaborate with forward-deployed engineers to create integration-ready backends for partners
• Architect on-device and cloud co-design decisions to optimize latency, cost, and resource allocation
