Full Stack Engineer / Software Developer (CBP)

Ashburn, VAregularmidAdded today

About this role

Full Stack Engineer role supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection's mission-critical operations across 300+ ports of entry. You'll design, build, and maintain production software within a federal compliance framework, balancing security-first development with integration of legacy systems—this is application development, not infrastructure work.

What you'll do

  • Design and build full-stack software applications serving CBP's continuous border security operations
  • Integrate new code with existing legacy systems while meeting federal accreditation requirements
  • Embed security practices throughout development rather than treating it as post-implementation
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, automation specialists, and security teams on deployments and environments
  • Write well-tested, documented code that enables future developers to extend without reverse engineering
  • Prepare applications and documentation for federal security and compliance reviews

What they're looking for

  • Full-stack development across frontend and backend
  • Production software development in regulated or government environments
  • Security-aware coding and vulnerability remediation
  • CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment processes
  • Legacy system integration and technical debt management
  • Federal compliance and security review documentation
  • API design and microservices architecture
  • Testing and quality assurance practices

Benefits

  • Health, life, and disability insurance
  • $10,000 signing bonus (with active CBP BI, payable after 90 days)
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Retirement benefits
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Hybrid work arrangement in Ashburn, VA
