Network Engineer

About this role

Agile Defense seeks an experienced Network Engineer to design, maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and AWS cloud environments. The role involves managing Cisco equipment, supporting datacenter modernization, troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, and leading the migration of systems to cloud platforms.

What you'll do

• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across on-premises and AWS hybrid environments using Cisco equipment and monitoring tools
• Manage Cisco switch deployments, NXOS/IOS patch updates, and validate interoperability with AWS components like VPCs and Direct Connect
• Design and document system architectures, test procedures, and standard operating procedures for integrated network infrastructure
• Install datacenter hardware, manage cable runs, and maintain rack diagrams and elevation documentation
• Provide technical leadership on cloud networking, deliver proof-of-concepts, and mentor junior engineers on AWS connectivity
• Support on-call production incident response and afterhours maintenance for critical systems

• Cisco networking (switches 9300, 5300, 3850, Nexus series, NXOS/IOS)
• AWS cloud infrastructure (VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, lift-and-shift migrations)
• Network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, STP, SNMP, ACL, SSH)
• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Netscout nGenius, Wireshark, TCPdump)
• Datacenter operations and hardware management
• IPv4 troubleshooting and hybrid network connectivity
• Technical documentation and system design
• Customer communication and leadership
