Backend Engineer

About this role

Air Apps, a fast-growing AI-powered resource planning startup, seeks an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build scalable server-side services in Lisbon. You'll work with Node.js, TypeScript, and GCP to power critical features for millions of users worldwide.

What you'll do

• Design and build RESTful or GraphQL APIs and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript
• Model data and manage PostgreSQL databases via Supabase, including security and real-time features
• Deploy and manage cloud services on GCP using Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub
• Write clean, testable code with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection following best practices
• Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting; own incident response and reliability improvements
