Backend Engineer

About this role

Air Apps, a self-funded AI company with 100M+ downloads, is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and maintain scalable server-side components for their AI-powered resource planning platform. You'll work on-site in Lisbon, building robust APIs and cloud infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

• Design and build RESTful or GraphQL APIs and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript
• Model data and manage PostgreSQL databases via Supabase, including security and real-time features
• Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform with Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub
• Write clean, testable code with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection following Clean Architecture principles
• Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting systems; lead incident response and reliability improvements
