About this role

Air Apps, a self-funded AI-powered planning platform with 100M+ downloads, seeks an experienced Backend Engineer for their Lisbon office to design and maintain scalable server-side services using Node.js, TypeScript, and Google Cloud Platform. This fully onsite role involves building APIs, managing PostgreSQL databases, and ensuring security and reliability across cloud-native applications.

What you'll do

• Design and build RESTful or GraphQL APIs and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript
• Model data and manage PostgreSQL databases with Supabase, including row-level security and real-time features
• Deploy and manage services on GCP using Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub
• Write testable code with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; participate in code reviews
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection following Clean Architecture principles
• Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting; own incident response and uptime improvements
