Backend Engineer, Rome

About this role

Air Apps, a self-funded AI company with 100M+ downloads, seeks an experienced backend engineer to design and maintain scalable server-side systems for their AI-powered resource planning platform. This fully onsite role in Lisbon involves building APIs, managing cloud infrastructure on GCP, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support rapid growth.

What you'll do

• Design and build RESTful/GraphQL APIs and microservices using Node.js and TypeScript
• Model data and manage PostgreSQL databases via Supabase, including security and real-time features
• Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform with Cloud Run and serverless compute
• Write testable code and maintain quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data protection following Clean Architecture
• Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting; own incident response and reliability improvements
