About this role
Join Airbnb's Integrated Knowledge Management team to develop next-generation AI-powered customer support solutions. You'll build scalable RAG platforms and AI applications that enhance the support experience for millions of hosts and guests globally, collaborating across engineering, product, and data science teams.
What you'll do
- Design and build end-to-end AI-powered backend solutions for customer service applications
- Develop and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and knowledge management platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, product, design, operations) to implement AI features
- Ensure system availability, performance, and scalability of support infrastructure
- Conduct data-driven analysis and experimentation to improve service efficiency
- Advance engineering processes and AI tooling across the organization
What they're looking for
- 3+ years building and operating AI-powered applications
- Proficiency in backend languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala, or Python)
- Large-scale system architecture and design patterns
- API design and high-volume data pipeline experience
- RAG systems, search, retrieval, and ranking (preferred)
- Data-driven decision making and technical communication
- Agentic systems experience (nice to have)
- Fluent English communication
