Software Engineer II

About this role

Alarm.com seeks an Android Software Engineer II to develop features for their mobile application serving millions of users managing home and business security. You'll work with modern Android technologies including Kotlin and Jetpack Compose while collaborating across wireless, software, and hardware teams on real-time video streaming, IoT controls, and smart home automation.

What you'll do

• Develop Android features for the flagship mobile application used by millions of customers
• Design and implement real-time video streaming features using Android media frameworks and protocols like HLS/RTSP
• Build responsive, performant UIs following Material Design guidelines and modern Android best practices
• Collaborate across the project lifecycle with iOS engineers, backend teams, QA, and product managers
• Research and evaluate new Android technologies to solve challenging project goals
• Contribute product ideas and participate in collaborative feature development beyond specification

• Android development (2+ years professional experience)
• Kotlin programming
• Android Studio and Android SDK
• Modern architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, MVP)
• RESTful API integration and JSON parsing
• Asynchronous programming with Coroutines and Flow
• Git version control
