Software Engineer II - Mobile

About this role

Alarm.com is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop Android features for their home security and smart home management app used by millions. You'll work on real-time video streaming, IoT device controls, and modern UI features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a people-first culture.

What you'll do

• Develop Android features for the flagship mobile application
• Design and implement real-time video streaming using Android media frameworks and protocols like HLS/RTSP
• Build responsive, performant UIs following Material Design guidelines
• Collaborate across the full project lifecycle with iOS engineers, backend teams, QA, and product managers
• Evaluate and apply new Android technologies to solve challenging problems
• Contribute product ideas and collaborate on feature development

What they're looking for

• Android development with 2+ years professional experience
• Kotlin proficiency (Java a plus)
• Android Studio, SDK, and modern architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, MVP)
• Asynchronous programming with Coroutines and Flow
• RESTful API integration and JSON parsing
• Git version control and collaborative workflows
• Video streaming technologies (preferred)
• Jetpack Compose (preferred)
