Optimization Engineer – Commercial
About this role
This role develops and maintains optimization models that enhance airline commercial profitability by combining operations research with software engineering. You'll work with the Commercial Data Science team to build Python-based decision support systems, troubleshoot production workflows, and translate stakeholder requirements into quantitative solutions.
What you'll do
- Formulate airline commercial problems into operations research models using Python libraries like PuLP, Pyomo, and OR-Tools
- Build and refine optimization models by adjusting constraints, objectives, and solution strategies to improve performance
- Design and execute evaluations of model features through back-testing, experiments, and simulation to measure business impact
- Extract, transform, and load data from cloud and on-premise sources using Python and SQL for model inputs
- Troubleshoot production systems, diagnose performance issues, and implement improvements to robustness and monitoring
- Communicate analytical findings and model trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders via documentation and presentations
