About this role

A defense startup is seeking a Digital Power Electronics Firmware Engineer to develop embedded control systems for power conversion and distribution in autonomous defense platforms. You'll design firmware for DC-DC converters and power management systems, working with simulation tools and hardware validation in a collaborative engineering environment.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement C/C++ firmware for digital control of power electronics systems including DC-DC converters and voltage regulation
  • Use SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink to model, validate, and optimize control systems before hardware implementation
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on hardware bring-up, lab debugging, and validation under various load conditions
  • Optimize power system efficiency, stability, and thermal performance through firmware iteration
  • Implement control algorithms such as PID loops, PWM, and phase-shift control for power topologies
  • Debug and troubleshoot power electronics systems in demanding field environments

What they're looking for

  • Embedded C/C++ development for microcontrollers (STM32, TI C2000, or equivalent)
  • Digital control of DC-DC converters, inverters, and power management systems
  • MATLAB, Simulink, and SPICE simulation tools
  • PID control loops and compensation techniques
  • PWM and phase-shift modulation for power systems
  • Analog and digital power electronics knowledge
  • Hardware validation and lab debugging
  • EMI and high-efficiency power design experience

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Equity package
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Work with cutting-edge defense technology
  • Engineering-first company culture
