About this role
Allen Control Systems, a defense startup building autonomous drone-detection systems, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to bridge product design and production. You'll drive manufacturability from concept through scale, own tooling strategy, and partner with suppliers and internal teams to enable efficient, repeatable manufacturing.
What you'll do
- Lead design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFA) initiatives from concept to production, defining critical features, tolerances, and inspection strategies
- Design, develop, and validate production tooling, fixtures, and test equipment while establishing repeatable manufacturing processes
- Serve as primary mechanical engineering interface to suppliers for fabrication, machining, casting, and assembly operations
- Support root cause investigations and quality issues using structured problem-solving methods like 8D and Fishbone analysis
- Define critical manufacturing and inspection processes with key parameters; support FMEA, capability studies, and Gauge R&R validation
- Translate manufacturability lessons learned into updated design standards and best practices
