Allen Control Systems

Perception & Tracking Engineer

Austin, TXfulltimemidAdded today

About this role

Allen Control Systems seeks a Perception & Tracking Engineer to design and implement real-time multi-object tracking algorithms for autonomous gun turret systems. You'll develop classical and deep learning-based computer vision pipelines for detecting and tracking objects in dynamic environments, optimizing for embedded hardware while collaborating with robotics and software teams.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement 3D computer vision-based multi-object tracking algorithms including data association, track correlation, and uncertainty handling
  • Develop and optimize object detection and tracking pipelines using deep learning techniques (YOLO, R-CNN, ByteTrack, etc.)
  • Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models for perception tasks in dynamic environments
  • Profile and optimize tracking systems for low-latency real-time performance on embedded and GPU hardware
  • Design image preprocessing and feature extraction pipelines to improve robustness
  • Define tracking metrics, evaluation frameworks, and test scenarios to quantify accuracy and computational efficiency

What they're looking for

  • 3D computer vision and multi-object tracking algorithms
  • Object detection frameworks (YOLO, SSD, R-CNN)
  • Classic and deep learning tracking methods (Kalman filters, particle filters, ByteTrack)
  • Python and C++ for perception software development
  • Linear algebra, probability, statistics, and optimal estimation
  • Image preprocessing and classical computer vision pipelines
  • Real-time embedded systems optimization
  • Machine learning model training and deployment
