Raw Materials Developer, Footwear

About this role

ALO is seeking a Raw Materials Developer for Footwear to lead the development and commercialization of innovative footwear materials that balance design intent, performance, sustainability, and cost. This role partners across design, product development, quality, and sourcing teams to deliver scalable, compliant materials for seasonal launches in the Commerce, California office.

What you'll do

• Lead material development from concept through commercialization for training, studio, lifestyle, and recovery footwear
• Source and evaluate new materials including knits, wovens, leathers, foams, rubber compounds, and bio-based alternatives
• Define specifications, testing plans, and validate materials for performance, safety, durability, and regulatory compliance
• Troubleshoot material and construction issues with suppliers and drive corrective actions
• Manage material costs, negotiate with suppliers, and maintain development timelines and critical milestones
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships; lead onboarding and capability assessments
