Manufacturing Engineer

About this role

ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing systems for unmanned air vehicles, with expertise in composite fabrication and assembly processes. The role focuses on process selection, factory design, equipment specification, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

What you'll do

• Create and manage equipment specifications for composite assembly and test equipment qualification
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve composite fabrication productivity and quality
• Develop Value Stream Maps to reduce cycle time and waste in layup and assembly operations
• Generate manufacturing strategies and capacity models for composite products with cost estimation
• Create work instructions, composite procedures, and cure cycle documentation for production
• Perform Design for Manufacturing analysis and conduct Make/Buy assessments with cross-functional teams

• Composite manufacturing (wet layup, prepreg, autoclave, out-of-autoclave processes)
• Composite tooling design (matched-die, mandrel, caul plate)
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology
• CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office suite
• Composite bonding and joining techniques (co-cure, co-bond, secondary bonding)
• Manufacturing cost estimating and equipment documentation
• Root cause analysis and problem-solving
• MiniTab, Oracle, and Agile software
