R &D Embedded Software Engineer

About this role

ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced R&D Embedded Software Engineer to design and architect embedded systems for innovative products across aerospace, medical devices, and automotive sectors. You'll lead architectural decisions, manage the full software development lifecycle, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver real-time embedded solutions.

What you'll do

• Lead architectural decisions for embedded products, evaluating technical and business tradeoffs
• Partner with product management and customers to define requirements during conceptual phases
• Design embedded system architectures using real-time operating systems and virtualization technologies
• Create technical documentation including functional blocks, data flow diagrams, and system architecture frameworks
• Manage complete software development lifecycle for embedded firmware
• Lead or contribute to development teams to accelerate project delivery

What they're looking for

• Embedded systems architecture and design (5+ years required)
• C/C++ programming for embedded systems
• Real-time operating systems (RTOS) and real-time Linux
• Hardware/software tradeoff analysis and performance optimization
• ARM and x86 microprocessor knowledge
• Industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus) and networking (IP, Ethernet)
• Agile development and software development standards
• Technical documentation and requirements specification
