Deputy Chief Engineer, PES

About this role

Anduril Industries seeks an experienced Deputy Chief Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for defense applications. This role combines system architecture leadership with hands-on engineering across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines, requiring deep expertise in progressing UAV systems from concept through operational deployment.

What you'll do

• Design and architect upgrades to existing UAV systems and develop conceptual designs for new small drone platforms
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full UAV design and integration lifecycle
• Create system design plans, interface specifications, and test plans for critical subsystems
• Analyze vehicle performance data to identify trends and develop predictive failure models for reliability optimization
• Support benchtop testing, build activities, and field UAV testing with occasional travel
• Develop payload integration interfaces for partners and customers across hardware, software, and electrical domains
