About this role

Join Anduril's Maritime team as a Field Reliability Engineer debugging real-world issues in autonomous underwater/surface vehicles. You'll reproduce field anomalies, trace root causes across subsystems using logs and metrics, ship fixes in production code, and build institutional knowledge to prevent recurring failures—working directly with deployed hardware rather than theoretical problems.

What you'll do

  • Reproduce and diagnose field-reported anomalies in autonomous vehicle software by replaying sensor data and reconstructing system state
  • Trace issues across subsystems in Rust, C++, Python, or Go codebases and implement production fixes with tests through CI/CD
  • Validate fixes in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments before deploying to real vehicles
  • Write clear root-cause analyses and contribute to on-call runbooks to prevent recurring failures
  • Travel 25%+ of the time to support field operations and collaborate with subsystem-owning teams
  • Push back on symptom-patching and advocate for systemic fixes at the correct architectural layer

  • Proficiency in at least two of: Rust, modern C++, Python, Go
  • Systems-level debugging: logs, metrics, offline reproduction from recorded data
  • Observability tools: Prometheus/Grafana metrics, Loki/ELK-style logging
  • Linux and systems administration fluency
  • Clear technical writing and root-cause documentation
  • Hardware-in-the-loop and simulation testing
