About this role
Anduril Industries seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to develop complex mechanical subsystems for tactical drone products, from concept through production. You'll own core components like optical gimbals, batteries, and structures while collaborating cross-functionally and balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost.
What you'll do
- Own mechanical subsystems for drone products through full development lifecycle
- Conduct trade studies, hand calculations, and FEA to develop and optimize designs
- Lead design reviews and prototype builds with iterative hardware testing
- Investigate root cause failures and support customer hardware demonstrations
- Balance operational requirements across subsystems while optimizing for speed, mass, and cost
- Travel to test sites and vendors as needed
What they're looking for
- CAD proficiency (any platform)
- Hands-on prototyping (machining, welding, soldering)
- FEA and structural analysis
- Engineering fundamentals (structures, fluids, thermal, mechanisms)
- Technical leadership and project management
- Hardware testing and failure analysis
- Engineering drawing standards
- Solidworks or NX (preferred)
