Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Test

About this role

Design and develop mechanical test fixtures and assemblies for manufacturing operations at a defense technology company. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create precision components, manage supplier relationships, and drive design-for-manufacturability improvements across product lines.

What you'll do

• Design mechanical assemblies and test fixtures using professional CAD tools with tight tolerances and pneumatic/manual actuation
• Integrate designs into PDM systems following product design release processes
• Partner with rapid fabrication and third-party suppliers to source equipment and components
• Provide design-for-manufacturability and design-for-test guidance to product engineering teams
• Develop test procedures and train technicians; perform root cause analysis on product failures
• Analyze test data and collaborate with design engineers on product improvement recommendations

• Mechanical CAD design (NX or Solidworks preferred)
• Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT)
• FEA analysis and complex electromechanical system integration
• Root cause and failure analysis (RCCA)
• Electronics test equipment operation (load cells, strain gauges, multimeters)
• PLM/PDM system experience
• Cross-functional collaboration with electrical and software engineers
• PCBA test fixturing design
