About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Mechatronics Engineer to develop complex electro-mechanical systems for defense technology platforms. You'll own hardware projects end-to-end—from concept evaluation and design through prototyping, testing, and production, with significant autonomy and cross-functional collaboration.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and test complex electro-mechanical systems including optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, and sensors
- Evaluate engineering concepts rapidly and perform physics-based trade studies on technical problems
- Manage vendor relationships and conduct market research to identify industry partners
- Lead design reviews, develop test plans, and support customer hardware demonstrations
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful designs into production
- Travel to test sites as needed to support critical demonstrations
What they're looking for
- Bare-metal microcontroller design (STMicro, TI, NXP) from schematic to bringup
- Embedded systems and firmware development
- Motor/servo drive systems and controls (BLDC/brushed motor controller design)
- Electrical schematic design and PCB layout interpretation
- ECAD tools (Altium, KiCad) and MCAD tools (Solidworks, NX)
- Hands-on prototyping (soldering, board assembly, harnessing)
- Microcontroller communication protocols (USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, UART)
- Engineering first principles and physics-based analysis
