About this role
Anduril is seeking Mechanical Engineers to design, build, and qualify space hardware for orbital deployment. You'll own hardware development from concept through launch, applying first-principles engineering to create robust, simplified designs while managing technical documentation and vendor coordination.
What you'll do
- Design and develop space hardware using CAD, calculations, and prototyping from concept to flight readiness
- Lead subsystem design reviews and communicate technical status, timelines, and architecture trade-offs
- Execute analysis, testing, and vendor management as the Responsible Engineer for assigned subsystems
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition designs to flight hardware and production
- Create comprehensive technical documentation including drawings, test plans, procedures, and specifications
- Travel to test sites and vendor facilities as needed to support hardware development
What they're looking for
- CAD proficiency (any platform) with industry-standard drawing practices
- Hands-on fabrication and machining (hand tools, mill, lathe)
- Engineering fundamentals (heat transfer, statics, solid mechanics, materials)
- Space hardware or equivalent complex system design experience
- Electronic component integration (PCBAs, motors, sensors)
- Optical or RF system integration
- Technical writing and documentation
- Python, MATLAB, or C++ for analytical modeling
