Mechanical Design Engineer II (PCS)
About this role
Antares seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer II to design and integrate power conversion systems for advanced nuclear microreactors. You will own the mechanical arrangement, pressure boundaries, and high-temperature hardware integration from concept through test, working across turbomachinery, heat exchangers, and rotating machinery in a first-of-a-kind development environment.
What you'll do
- Own mechanical arrangement and pressure budget for the Power Conversion System, managing leak-tightness and thermal growth as primary design drivers
- Design working-fluid pressure boundaries including piping, joints, and isolation systems for closed-cycle operation
- Define mechanical architecture for rotating machinery supports, alignment, anchors, and maintenance access accounting for thermal growth and seismic loads
- Manage mechanical interfaces between PCS components, reactor systems, and safety systems
- Support test rig design and instrumentation; leverage test data to improve component performance in subsequent design iterations
- Perform design-for-manufacturability assessments and work with cross-functional teams on assembly, installation, and field maintenance
