About this role

Antares seeks a Structures Engineer II to design and analyze critical reactor structural components including core restraint mechanisms, control drum supports, and heat exchanger vessel supports for advanced nuclear microreactors. You'll perform thermal and mechanical analyses, develop engineering documentation, lead component testing, and collaborate across teams to bring first-of-a-kind hardware from concept through deployment in a highly regulated environment.

What you'll do

  • Perform thermal, mechanical, and structural analyses to size and optimize reactor structural components
  • Define system architecture, operating limits, design margins, and concepts of operation
  • Develop engineering documentation including calculations, specifications, and design reports for reviews and licensing
  • Lead design, fabrication, and execution of component and system-level testing with test fixtures and validation procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with reactor, thermal, manufacturing, and licensing teams on design integration
  • Support supplier selection, technical evaluations, and resolution of manufacturing and assembly issues

What they're looking for

  • Structural design and analysis (hand calculations and FEA)
  • Finite element analysis (FEA) tools
  • Material selection and bolted/welded joint design
  • Thermal and mechanical analysis
  • Load path development and thermo-mechanical trade studies
  • Technical documentation and specification writing
  • Test planning, instrumentation, and validation procedures
  • Cross-functional team collaboration and communication
