Anthropic
Data Center Electrical Engineer
About this role
Anthropic seeks a Data Center Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and deployment of large-scale AI training infrastructure across the US. You'll own facility architecture from utility service through rack delivery, drive modular prefabrication strategies, and serve as the technical liaison with utilities, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
What you'll do
- Lead electrical design of critical power systems including utility interfaces, substations, generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and grounding across multiple sites
- Develop and maintain reference architectures, technical specifications, and basis-of-design documentation for power distribution systems
- Perform short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, protection coordination, and power quality analyses to inform design and equipment decisions
- Design modular electrical skids, e-houses, and prefabricated assemblies to accelerate deployment and reduce onsite labor
- Review and approve engineering submittals, shop drawings, and design packages from build partners and MEP consultants
- Coordinate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and local jurisdictions on interconnection requirements and code compliance
What they're looking for
- Data center electrical design and critical power systems
- Medium and high-voltage infrastructure design
- Power systems analysis (short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination, arc flash)
- National Electrical Code (NEC) and standards compliance (NFPA, IEEE, ANSI)
- Modular design and prefabrication strategy
- Vendor and equipment specification expertise
- Utility interconnection and transmission operator coordination
- Technical drawing interpretation and DC hall layout planning
