San Francisco, CA | New York City, NYFrom $405kmidAdded today

About this role

Anthropic seeks a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to ensure data center power and cooling equipment meets strict quality standards before leaving suppliers' factories. You'll qualify suppliers, witness factory acceptance tests, manage nonconformances, and drive corrective actions across electrical (switchgear, UPS, generators) and mechanical systems (chillers, pumps, air handlers).

What you'll do

  • Lead supplier qualification through on-site audits, capability assessments, and manufacturing readiness reviews for power and cooling equipment
  • Plan and witness factory acceptance tests (FATs) for electrical gear and mechanical systems, verifying functional and performance requirements
  • Conduct in-process and pre-shipment inspections to verify build-to-print conformance, workmanship, labeling, and traceability
  • Own nonconformance and deviation processes; drive root-cause analysis using 8D, 5-Why, FMEA, and fault-tree methods
  • Define and track supplier quality KPIs including first-pass FAT yield, defect rates, and NCR aging; report in quarterly business reviews
  • Translate engineering specifications into supplier-facing quality requirements including inspection/test plans and acceptance criteria

What they're looking for

  • Factory acceptance testing (FAT) planning and execution
  • Supplier quality and audit experience
  • Structured problem-solving (8D, RCA, FMEA, 5-Why)
  • Statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis
  • Electrical and mechanical drawing interpretation (one-lines, P&IDs)
  • Nonconformance and corrective action (CAPA) management
  • Knowledge of power/cooling equipment (switchgear, UPS, chillers, CDUs, air handlers)
  • Quality documentation and control plan development

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a time you caught a manufacturing defect during supplier audit or FAT that prevented a costly field failure—what was the issue and how did you resolve it?
  • Describe your experience with factory acceptance tests: how do you plan a FAT, what hold points do you typically define, and how do you decide when to reject versus accept with deviation?
