San Francisco, CA | New York City, NYFrom $405kmidAdded 2 days ago
About this role
Anthropic seeks a Network Engineer to optimize the cost and efficiency of its massive multi-cloud network infrastructure. You'll use telemetry and data analysis to understand bandwidth usage patterns, build observability systems, and drive efficiency improvements across training clusters and inference fleets.
What you'll do
- Characterize workload network usage patterns including bandwidth, latency, and cross-region traffic
- Build and operate network telemetry pipelines using sFlow, IPFIX, gNMI, and eBPF probes
- Develop cost attribution models to assign network expenses to teams and workloads
- Forecast bandwidth, egress, and interconnect capacity needs for procurement planning
- Identify optimization opportunities in inter-region traffic and link utilization
- Collaborate with Systems Networking and Observability teams to implement efficiency improvements
What they're looking for
- Large-scale network operations (data center fabrics, WAN, hyperscaler environments)
- Network telemetry and observability (gNMI, sFlow, IPFIX, eBPF)
- Python or Go programming
- Cloud networking (AWS VPC/Direct Connect or GCP Interconnect)
- BGP and SDN overlay networks
- Cost modeling and chargeback systems
- Network traffic analysis and capacity planning
- Metrics-driven problem solving
