Embedded Controls Engineer

Los Angeles, CA$130k–$180kfulltimemidAdded 2 days ago

About this role

AnySignal, a space and defense RF startup, seeks an Embedded Controls Engineer to design and deploy high-accuracy motion control systems. You'll develop firmware, tune closed-loop controllers on real hardware, and ensure reliable field performance for demanding tracking applications.

What you'll do

  • Design and tune closed-loop control systems (PID, feedforward, gain scheduling) on physical motors and hardware
  • Develop embedded firmware for custom motor control boards and integrate with higher-level software
  • Implement trajectory generation and tracking algorithms for high-rate target profiles
  • Build HIL/SIL test environments and validate control software before deployment
  • Instrument systems with logging and diagnostics to monitor fleet health and enable remote debugging
  • Characterize system dynamics and design calibration routines to maintain performance across deployed units

What they're looking for

  • Closed-loop feedback control on real motors
  • C/C++ on embedded/real-time platforms (RTOS, bare-metal, RT Linux)
  • Servo drives and motor controller integration
  • Hardware interfaces (SPI, CAN, RS-485, EtherCAT, GPIO)
  • Schematic reading and board-level debugging
  • Control theory (PID, feedforward, gain scheduling)
  • Python for tooling and test automation
  • Custom PCB firmware development (MCU bring-up, drivers)
