About this role
Appian seeks an Information Security Engineer to design and implement detection technologies protecting their enterprise automation platform. Based in McLean, VA on-site, you'll build security systems, analyze threat data, and develop intrusion detection capabilities while working alongside experienced security architects.
What you'll do
- Build and scale internal security systems to monitor and defend against modern attack techniques
- Analyze complex security data from multiple products, logging devices, and endpoint monitors
- Design and implement detection technologies to identify anomalies and vulnerabilities across systems
- Conduct risk analysis on infrastructure assets and provide remediation recommendations
- Execute security engineering projects improving intrusion detection and incident response capabilities
- Collaborate on cloud-based defense strategies for enterprise automation infrastructure

- Programming/scripting in Java, Python, or C/C++
- Network fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Threat analysis and cyber security engineering
- Windows and Linux/Unix system administration
- Cloud infrastructure knowledge (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
- Enterprise platform experience (Salesforce, ServiceNow preferred)
- Security tools and monitoring systems
- Data analysis and investigation techniques
