Solution Engineer (Third Shift)
About this role
Appian seeks a Cloud Engineer for third shift to serve as first responder for their low-code platform, triaging and resolving monitoring alerts while providing technical support to customers. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting with proactive system improvements during night shift hours (5pm–2am or 1am–10am EST) across multiple US locations.
What you'll do
- Triage and resolve alerts from monitoring systems following established runbooks and procedures
- Troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve complex system and customer issues collaboratively with engineers
- Provide direct technical support to customers as needed
- Diagnose root causes and perform hands-on troubleshooting for complex technical problems
- Identify alert trends and enhance monitoring to improve system reliability
- Contribute code improvements to increase platform efficiency and reduce incidents

- Linux command line proficiency
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing)
- Monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus)
- System troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Technical communication and customer support
- Scripting languages (Python, Bash preferred)
- Database knowledge (SQL, NoSQL nice-to-have)
- Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes nice-to-have)
