Electrical Engineer - HRI

About this role

Apptronik seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and validate audio and display electronics for their Apollo humanoid robot's human-robot interface. You'll prototype HRI circuitry, select components, test mixed-signal PCBs, and collaborate with firmware teams to deliver intuitive user feedback systems.

What you'll do

• Design and prototype HRI circuitry including LED drivers, display backlight controllers, and audio front-ends
• Select and evaluate components for visual displays and audio systems based on specifications
• Implement and test mixed-signal PCBAs with focus on signal integrity for audio and display interfaces
• Execute validation and testing plans using specialized equipment to measure audio and display performance
• Troubleshoot hardware-software interactions with firmware and UX teams for user feedback mechanisms
• Document design changes, test results, and maintain assembly procedures

• PCB design tools (Altium Designer or equivalent)
• Electronics testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)
• Audio electronics and acoustic design
• Mixed-signal PCB layout and schematic capture
• Audio amplifiers, microphones, speakers, and I2S protocols
• Signal conditioning, filtering, A/D and D/A converters
• EMI/EMC design practices
• Firmware-hardware integration troubleshooting
