About this role
Archer, an aerospace company developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, seeks a Sensor Modeling Engineer to design and implement physics-based sensor models for aviation systems. You'll work remotely managing the complete lifecycle of sensor simulations in Simulink, from architecture through flight testing validation, while collaborating with control and estimation teams.
What you'll do
- Design multi-fidelity physics-based sensor models for eVTOL aircraft systems
- Develop and implement sensor models (IMU, GNSS, INS, air data systems, radar altimeters) in Simulink
- Conduct end-to-end testing including lab integration and flight test data analysis
- Analyze simulation and test data to refine model accuracy and characterize real-world sensor performance
- Collaborate with state estimation, control, and simulation engineers on integration
- Build tools and processes to improve model maintainability and simulation performance
What they're looking for
- Simulink modeling and simulation
- Aerospace sensor design and characterization
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Systems architecture and design
- Flight control systems
- MATLAB programming
- Critical thinking across multiple abstraction levels
Benefits
- Base salary $140,000-$180,000
- Fully remote position with occasional travel (~10%)
