Software Engineer, Backend

Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and manage the backend systems that support their advanced AI products for electric aircraft. This role involves working collaboratively across teams to ensure reliable deployment and maintenance of software solutions.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs
• Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools for backend environment management
• Collaborate with AI Research and Data Science teams
• Oversee the full development lifecycle including monitoring and maintenance
• Conduct performance monitoring and troubleshoot production issues
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices

What they're looking for

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years in software engineering focusing on backend systems
• Understand microservices architecture and API design
• Proficient in Python and/or Rust
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiar with cloud services like AWS or GCP
• Skilled in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
• Knowledge of relational and in-memory databases
