About this role

Archer, an aerospace company developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, seeks a Tooling Design Engineer to design and develop manufacturing tooling and assembly fixtures for complex aircraft structures. You'll collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to create CAD documentation, conduct dimensional inspections, and drive continuous improvements in production efficiency and manufacturability.

What you'll do

  • Design tooling for trim, drill, and assembly operations plus manufacturing aids from concept through final inspection
  • Create CAD files and technical drawings for assembly fixtures using 3D CAD software with GD&T proficiency
  • Set up and dimensionally inspect assembly fixtures using laser trackers and inspection equipment for large primary structures
  • Provide manufacturing and assembly input during early design phases with airframe and manufacturing engineers
  • Develop design review presentations and analysis reports to justify tooling designs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, operations teams and vendors to optimize manufacturability and ergonomics
