About this role
Arena Intelligence, founded by UC Berkeley researchers, is seeking a Data Engineer to build the data infrastructure powering real-world AI model evaluation. You'll design analytics-ready data models, pipelines, and metrics that transform user activity into trusted insights for AI labs and enterprise customers, directly influencing how AI performance is measured industry-wide.
What you'll do
- Design and implement analytics data models, schemas, and warehouse tables
- Build and maintain reliable batch and incremental data pipelines from raw events
- Define and standardize core metrics for product, research, and customer evaluations
- Partner with product and research teams to translate evaluation requirements into data models
- Develop dashboards, reports, and data artifacts for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure data quality through testing, validation, monitoring, and comprehensive documentation

- SQL and analytics-friendly schema design
- Modern data warehouses (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery)
- Data pipeline orchestration (Airflow or equivalent)
- Python for data transformation and validation
- Data modeling best practices and dimensional modeling
- Production data pipeline debugging and optimization
- Spark or distributed data processing frameworks
- ML-adjacent analytics or experimentation metrics
