Machine Learning Engineer

About this role

Arena Intelligence, founded by UC Berkeley researchers, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to build and scale the infrastructure powering their AI model evaluation platform used by millions. You'll own core modeling systems, data pipelines, and evaluation methodologies while partnering with researchers and engineers to advance how frontier AI is assessed in real-world scenarios.

What you'll do

• Design and build core modeling infrastructure for data and evaluation products
• Develop and maintain full-stack data, model training, and evaluation pipelines
• Research and implement state-of-the-art evaluation methods for AI systems
• Partner with researchers and product leadership to translate ideas into reliable systems
• Scale platform capabilities to support new modalities and frontier model comparisons
• Foster rapid iteration and feedback-driven product development within the team

What they're looking for

• Deep learning and language model expertise
• LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and function calling
• Full-stack development across recommendation and LLM systems
• Data pipeline architecture and MLOps
• Reward model training
• Statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification

• 4+ years industry experience in ML/AI
