Security Engineer, Detection & Response
About this role
Assort Health is seeking a Security Engineer focused on Detection & Response to build and operate security monitoring, incident response, and detection capabilities from the ground up in a rapidly scaling healthcare AI startup. You'll help establish foundational detection and response programs while partnering with engineering teams to embed security into systems by design.
What you'll do
- Build and operate detection and response capabilities including continuous monitoring, triage, investigation, and remediation of security events
- Develop incident playbooks, on-call procedures, escalation paths, and conduct tabletop exercises to improve incident readiness
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure critical telemetry is available and actionable across cloud, corporate, and production environments
- Evaluate and implement detection and response tooling, including modern platforms, open-source options, and AI-enabled solutions
- Support SOC 2 compliance efforts while establishing sustainable detection and response practices
- Own hands-on technical work, scripting, and automation to reduce manual effort and improve team velocity
