About this role
Join Astranis's software-defined radio team as a hardware design intern to develop and test satellite communication hardware over a 12-week internship. You'll work on real projects that fly on operational satellites, gaining hands-on experience with circuit design, prototyping, and integration in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
What you'll do
- Design, simulate, implement, and test software-defined radio hardware components
- Perform hardware bringup and debugging using lab instruments and equipment
- Write code to evaluate hardware performance and automate testing processes
- Integrate radio systems into spacecraft while collaborating with engineering teams
What they're looking for
- PCB hardware design and prototyping from scratch
- Analog or digital circuit design (op amps, FPGAs, filters, etc.)
- Mixed-signal design (ADCs, DACs, power integrity)
- RF design principles (impedance matching, S-parameters)
- RF/microwave analysis software (ADS, ANSYS, Matlab)
- Python or similar programming languages
- Altium Designer or equivalent PCB design software
- Lab bench equipment operation (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generators)
Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate of $29/hour
- Opportunity to work on hardware deployed on active satellites
- Access to top-tier lab equipment and instrumentation
- Potential pathway to full-time employment post-internship
