About this role
Astranis seeks a Propulsion Engineer to lead the design, build, and testing of satellite propulsion systems with a focus on test automation. You'll manage component and system-level testing, develop test equipment, and collaborate cross-functionally while supporting team growth at their San Francisco headquarters.
What you'll do
- Design and build automated test equipment and test plans for propulsion components and systems
- Perform component and system-level design, analysis, and trade studies for test equipment
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans while ensuring industry and Range Safety compliance
- Conduct hands-on testing and qualification of propulsion systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet stakeholder requirements and schedule goals
- Assist with recruiting and hiring for the growing propulsion team

- Propulsion system testing (3+ years industry experience)
- Test equipment design and development
- Hardware design and hands-on building expertise
- Spacecraft propulsion systems knowledge
- Low thrust and monopropellant systems experience
- Python, C++, and Git programming
