About this role

Astranis seeks a thermal engineer intern for a 12-week fall 2026 internship to support satellite design and testing. You'll conduct thermal analysis, design cooling solutions, and collaborate with engineering teams on hardware destined for orbit.

What you'll do

  • Perform thermal analysis at varying fidelity levels on satellite components including propulsion systems, batteries, electronics, and PCBs
  • Design and evaluate thermal solutions such as heaters, heat pipes, and thermal interface materials
  • Support hardware design, evaluation, and testing in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Develop integration and assembly processes to maintain thermal design specifications
  • Plan and execute thermal vacuum testing at component and spacecraft levels
  • Assist with design trade-offs balancing performance, resources, risk, cost, and schedule
