About this role

Atomic Semi is hiring Rust software engineering interns to build high-performance tools for semiconductor chip fabrication and design. You'll work on interactive editing interfaces, real-time collaboration systems, GPU-accelerated visualization, and distributed infrastructure across a 4-8 month internship starting in September.

What you'll do

  • Create interactive CAD-like editing tools with low-latency geometry manipulation and measurement capabilities
  • Develop production-grade Rust software for native and WebAssembly platforms
  • Design real-time collaborative systems with state synchronization and conflict resolution
  • Implement geometry, graph, and routing algorithms for performance
  • Build GPU-accelerated rendering pipelines capable of visualizing massive datasets
  • Profile and optimize CPU, GPU, memory, and network performance to maximize responsiveness

What they're looking for

  • Rust programming
  • Systems programming and performance optimization
  • Real-time interactive systems design
  • GPU programming and visualization
  • Computational geometry and algorithms
  • WebAssembly development
  • Distributed/collaborative systems
  • Memory and concurrency fundamentals

Benefits

  • Work on cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication technology
  • Learn from industry leaders including Jim Keller and Sam Zeloof
  • Hands-on experience across the full software stack
  • Fast-paced environment with rapid iteration cycles
  • Direct impact on real, physical engineering systems
