About this role

Atomic Semi, founded by semiconductor pioneers Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller, is seeking an Equipment Engineer to maintain and optimize novel fabrication equipment for their compact semiconductor fab. You'll troubleshoot complex tools, document procedures, collaborate with engineering teams, and drive continuous improvements to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.

What you'll do

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on semiconductor fabrication equipment
  • Generate detailed documentation including SOPs, technical reports, and maintenance plans
  • Investigate and resolve maintenance issues collaboratively with hardware and process engineering teams
  • Monitor equipment parameters, alarm logs, and SPC alerts to identify improvement opportunities
  • Manage spare parts inventory and reorder levels for critical components
  • Support and train maintenance personnel on equipment operation and procedures

  • Wafer fabrication process knowledge (etch, deposition, lithography, metrology)
  • Electro-mechanical troubleshooting and hands-on equipment maintenance
  • CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Vacuum systems and cleanroom protocols
  • Data analysis and SPC (Statistical Process Control)
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
  • Equipment control systems and robotics familiarity
  • Technical documentation and communication
