About this role

Atomic Semi, founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller, is building a compact semiconductor fabrication facility and seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to architect core systems powering their fab software platform. You'll design high-performance APIs and data models that enable process engineers to control, monitor, and orchestrate manufacturing hardware in real-time.

What you'll do

  • Lead architecture and development of backend APIs using Go, Rust, or gRPC
  • Design data models for manufacturing workflows (recipes, runs, tools, wafers, jobs)
  • Integrate web applications with hardware and embedded systems for real-time operations
  • Ensure reliability, observability, and performance of mission-critical manufacturing systems
  • Drive long-term system architecture to support evolving fab processes and yield optimization
  • Own systems end-to-end including failure recovery, troubleshooting, and on-call support
