Forward Deployed Engineer

About this role

Avoca seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with customers and design, build, and deploy AI-powered conversational solutions. You'll work at the intersection of customer needs and product strategy, operating with high autonomy to deliver immediate impact in a fast-growing Series B startup.

What you'll do

• Embed with customers to understand their operations and deploy tailored conversational AI solutions
• Build and maintain infrastructure for conversational AI, APIs, integrations, monitoring, and feedback loops
• Translate business requirements into technical architectures and production deployments
• Identify patterns across deployments and provide insights to shape core product roadmap
• Work seamlessly with technical and non-technical stakeholders in dynamic environments
• Operate with high autonomy in ambiguous, high-stakes situations

• Python proficiency
• Backend or systems engineering experience
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• TypeScript/JavaScript
• Vector databases
• LLMs and prompt engineering
• Strong cross-functional communication
• API design and integrations
